A Churnkey alternative for small Stripe teams
· Alex · 5 min read
Looking for a Churnkey alternative that costs less? Churnkey is a full retention platform. It covers cancel flows, failed-payment recovery and churn metrics, plus A/B testing and SOC 2 on its higher plans, and it starts at $250 a month. Reoffer does one job: a cancel flow on Stripe that matches one offer to the reason given and counts a save only when Stripe confirms it, from $29 a month. Choose on budget, and on whether you also need dunning.

Price: why small teams look for a Churnkey alternative
Churnkey prices by churned revenue. Starter costs $250 a month billed yearly ($3,000 a year up front) or $300 billed monthly, and it is for teams with under $5k of monthly churn. If you lose $800 a month to cancellations, the tool costs about a third of the revenue at stake before it saves anything.
Reoffer prices by sessions, meaning customers who open the offer page. Free covers one product and 25 sessions a month with reasons only. Solo is $29 for 100 sessions with offers applied in Stripe, and Growth is $49 for two products and 500 sessions. Every offer type is on every paid plan.
Cancel flows and offers
Both tools aim to reduce churn at the moment a subscriber decides to leave, by putting a page between “Cancel” and the end of the subscription. Churnkey gives you more controls: segmentation and A/B tests from Core, AI-assisted feedback analysis, and personalised flows. Reoffer is deliberately simpler. The customer gives a reason, sees the one offer you matched to it (a discount, a free cycle or a pause), and Reoffer applies it to the subscription in your own Stripe account through Stripe Connect.
Failed payments and dunning
Reoffer doesn’t recover failed payments. If involuntary churn is your bigger leak, start with Stripe’s own Smart Retries, which retry failed charges automatically, and card updates, and consider a dunning tool such as Churnkey or Churn Buster if they aren’t enough. Churnkey includes payment recovery on every plan, which is a real reason to choose it.
How saves are counted
Reoffer tracks every offer through four states: shown, accepted, processing, applied. Only applied, meaning Stripe confirmed the coupon, free cycle or pause on the subscription, counts as a save. Accepted-but-pending and failed offers are reported separately. We don’t publish a save rate yet because we only quote numbers Stripe can confirm. How we measure a save rate sets out the rules, so you can check our number against your own Stripe dashboard.
Setup
Reoffer can start before you grant any Stripe permission. On the Free plan the page records why customers leave and sends them on to your billing page. Connect Stripe on a paid plan when you want offers applied. Secure per-customer links come from Reoffer’s API, so each customer’s page knows their subscription. Churnkey offers a native Stripe App, an open-source React SDK and an MCP server on every plan.
Who this Churnkey alternative is best for
- SaaS founders billing on Stripe, roughly under $10k MRR, who want to improve retention without a retention-platform budget.
- Operators running several small products, since plans are priced by product and session, not by revenue.
- Anyone who wants a save count their Stripe dashboard agrees with.
Who Churnkey is best for
- Teams that need failed-payment recovery and cancel flows in one tool.
- Teams that want A/B testing, segmentation or SOC 2 (from Core).
- Anyone billing on Chargebee, Maxio, Paddle, Braintree or Recurly.
If that list describes you, Churnkey is the better fit and this page won’t change that.
Switching from Churnkey
- Create a Reoffer page and add your reasons and offers.
- Point your cancel button at the Reoffer link. Start on Free to collect reasons without touching billing.
- Connect Stripe on a paid plan and test the offers in Stripe test mode.
- Switch to live, then turn off the Churnkey cancel flow. If you rely on Churnkey’s payment recovery, keep it or move to Stripe’s Smart Retries first.
Churnkey alternative FAQ
If you need only cancel flows on Stripe, Reoffer starts free and its paid plans start at $29 a month. Churnkey’s Starter plan is $250 a month billed yearly. Reoffer doesn’t include failed-payment recovery, which Churnkey does.
No. Reoffer handles voluntary cancellations only. Use Stripe’s Smart Retries, or a dunning tool, for failed payments.
Start with Smart Retries and card updates, which come with Stripe Billing, and look at your recovered-payment numbers after a month or two. Add a dunning tool if too many failed payments still end in cancellations.
You can, and the first version is quick. The ongoing cost is upkeep: Stripe API changes, coupons on metered or multi-item subscriptions, proration, and someone on call when it breaks.
No. Each reason gets one offer that you choose. If you need to test offers against each other, Churnkey’s Core plan or above includes A/B testing.
Point your cancel button at a Reoffer link, test your offers in Stripe test mode, then switch to live and turn off the Churnkey cancel flow. Keep a separate tool for failed payments if you need one.
Losing a customer you could have kept is the part that stings. Start on the Free plan: no card and no Stripe permission. It records why customers leave and sends them on to your billing page.
